Elementary Orientation for Parents and Custodians

Being in a new country and culture can be both exciting and overwhelming for both students and parents. Attending Surrey’s informative orientation will allow you to learn about adapting to a new culture and more about the resources available to students and families. Additionally, you will have the chance to meet our Chinese and Korean Multi-Cultural Workers who will be interpreting the session to ensure you understand all the information. This session will be presented by a District ESL teacher who can explain the Canadian education system, what to expect for your child at school and how parents can be involved. * Orientation for parents/custodian is mandatory. Due to space limitations this session is open to ONE parent or custodian (no children).

Being in a new country and culture can be both exciting and overwhelming. Attending Surrey’s orientation will allow students to learn about adapting to a new culture and learn more about the resources available to students and families. You will have the chance to meet new friends and feel much more confident about starting your first day of school. The morning session will be presented in several languages, followed by an afternoon excursion into Vancouver (lunch provided). Orientation for all new students is mandatory and failure to attend will result in a delay of start date at the school.
